Ingrown Toenails

Ingrown toenails occur when the side of the nail begins to curl in as it grows, causing it to dig into the skin on the side of the toe. This can cause the skin to break, which can lead to serious pain, discomfort and infection. The most common cause of ingrown toenails is failing to cut the toenail properly.

Recognizing the Symptoms of Ingrown Toenails

  • Pain and Tenderness: Ingrown toenails often cause pain and tenderness along the sides of the affected toenail.
  • Swelling and Redness: Inflammation and redness around the toenail are common signs, indicating irritation and potential infection.
  • Infection Signs: If left untreated, ingrown toenails can lead to infection, manifesting as pus, increased pain, and a sensation of warmth around the toe.

When to Seek Professional Help

Understanding when to consult a podiatrist is essential for prompt intervention. Persistent pain, signs of infection, or recurrent ingrown toenails warrant professional attention.

Patient Review

The clinic is in a great location. Not hard to locate. The office looks so elegant with different decorative decor. Dr. Latifi is so pleasant. She listened carefully to my concerns. She immediately knew that I wasn't suffering with neuropathy before examining me. I'm looking forward to continuing to be under her care. Her Assistant was also so pleasant! I'm very pleased!
